Anastasiia Maiskaya
Anastasiia has been engaged in various kinds of art since her early childhood and studied world art history, she graduated from university and has a degree in art history and costume design. After graduation she decided to connect her life with photography, as for her photography is like a painting canvas, but with great possibilities for expressing ideas.
Since 2016, she has been traveling for inspiration and to explore different cultures. The more countries she visited, the deeper and more complex her photography became. She creates stories through art photography, drawing on academic knowledge of world art history. Her work respects the fine line between reality and mythicism. The depth of meanings is important to her. Asexuality, antique roots and the idea that man is the apotheosis.
In the last two years her work has been exhibited internationally from America to Asia, such as Art Basel, ImageNation Paris, Art Bali Week (Superlative Gallery), Belgium at Art Crush Ghent, Visual ART 4 Impact in Bologna, NFC Lisbon Summit. Her works are also collected and kept in private collections and published in various magazines: ARTEGO, Marvelous Art Magazine, OSSMA, Marika Magazine and others.
“In my work I like to combine old school classical art and modernity. I mix the pictorial approach of the Renaissance and photography, so I often hear from people that my photographs look like paintings. I believe that all art is built on the basic rules of ancient culture. Everything great in art was already created, so now all we have to do is modernize and add our own meanings. I am inspired by the history, legends and tales of different nations. And every time, I create a new, personal look at the stories everyone knows.”
